gWest
Perthshire, Scotland
Without question, the best inland site I have ever seen for a golf course. Set next-door to The Gleneagles Hotel, where I grew up working at the side of my father, this plot bears the same amazing topography as James Braid’s Kings Course.
The massive, tumbling, rolling landscaped covered by solid heathland makes this an exquisite anomaly in nature. The heather that we worked so diligently to introduce at Queenwood exists here naturally and in abundance.
gWest aims to be the largest single tourism development ever built in Scotland. The plans call for a 180-bedroom luxury hotel and some 170 homes priced upwards of £3 million (nearly $6 million). When complete, the project hopes to create more than 1,000 jobs and generate millions of pounds for the country’s economy.
I take great pride in having grown up in this area, and I feel extremely fortunate to have achieved a station in my career wherein I have the opportunity to leave my mark on the golf landscape in Scotland.
